Blog 14 - Monday, November 6, 2017

Thanks for allowing me to present my project to you last Friday.
As you could see, digital citizenship is pretty important for me.

Being a good digital citizen includes:
- being aware of your digital footprints;
- demonstrating safe and respectful online etiquette;
- not cyber-bullying, sexting, or posting inappropriate photos and/or videos,
- making important decisions about what to post to social media sites; and,
- not downloading or uploading inappropriate content

For this blog, I would like you to CREATE an important Digital Citizenship message using MEMES!

A meme in a generic message about a behaviour that is passed around on-line.

Using makeameme.org, create a MEME about being a GOOD Digital Citizen.  On the blog site, write an explanation about the meme you've created.  Explain why you've chosen that image? Explain the text on your meme!  How is your meme effective?

TURNING IT IN: You need to PRINT your MEME.

  1. For my meme I decided to do the frowning frog saying "When you realize that your bad social media decisions will come back to haunt you". I wanted to do this because it covers pretty much everything saying that everything that you post or say online can be tracked down and will comeback to you when you look for a job. Since everything can be found online, you must be extremely careful in what you post and say online so be careful.

    1. That's so true and covers quite a lot of facts about social media.

  2. so for my meme I chose to use the cat after a bath (with a surprised expression) saying "when you find out that what you post is out there for ever" I picked this since I find a lot of teens my age don't know or forget that one its out there its out there forever. It can come back to you one day and cause more problems in your life than you think, especially if its inappropriate.

  3. For my meme I took a picture of Dory from Finding Nemo with a surprised look on her face. The meme says “You posted that? I hope I never remember this...”. This meme goes to show that when you post something online it’s on there forever and anybody can view it. Even somebody innocent who doesn’t want to see it. I think that it is important for people to think before they post and realize that once they’ve posted something it it can’t be removed nor unseen.

  4. For my meme, I talked about job applications. Nowadays, companies and schools are looking people up to see how they were online. One inappropriate or bad post could lead to you losing your chance at a job. I think mine is effective at getting people aware of the fact that things that you post online, no matter how long ago, could come back to get you.

    1. Very good point. You have to be aware of what you're saying online because it might come back to haunt you. Great blog!!!

  5. My meme is a high school teacher going "Did you send a nude well you can't take it back". The reason I made that was to aware the danger about sending other people revealing pictures. If you send it to the wrong person they can use it in the wrong way. In Mr Katz's presentation we talked about sex torsion and how big of a problem it is. There's a lot of dangerous people online and if you send one of these pictures you have to make sure you're sending it to the right person and are aware of the consequences.

  6. For my meme, I said " when your boss finds the pic you thought you deleted six years ago." This meme represents the idea that once you put something on social media, it will be there forever. Even if you think you deleted it, it can still be there. It also represents the idea that something you post now, can affect you in the long-term. It could affect important things like your job.

  7. my memes is a picture of woody and buzz from toystory, buzz showing woody the creative land of memes and woody looking disappointed. the caption is "when someone tells you nothing really deletes from the internet" i think this is creative because its true and a lot of people aren't good digital citizens and aren't good examples of people who respect others online. i think my meme is a good one

    2. That is so true, nothing really gets deleted from the internet. Great blog.

  8. For my meme I used the Side-Eyes Chloe picture and the headline is "When you're looking for a job and the boss sees a provocative picture on your page". I chose this picture and comment because most girls, usually 18 or over, like to post provocative things on their social media pages. They will do this to attract boys or even girls and this is, in my opinion, absolutely disgusting. I mean what would your parents think? They'd be embarrassed or even ashamed.

  9. My meme is "wants to join LGTB, calls people online gay" For the meme background I felt like the dinosaur questioning was a good match cause the story is kinda ironic. Anyhow this just shows why you shouldn't call people gay and stuff cause this can happen to you and backfire. Even if they're gay it's okay. Just shows how dumb some comments can be in youtube comment section

  10. My blog is a picture of Obama with a sarcastic look on his face. My meme is "well done" at the top and "now your life is definitely ruined" at the bottom. what im trying to say is that if you post a nude or something stupid and some sees it and your boss or someone finds out your life can be ruined. Its basically saying think before you post something and how will this effect your life.

    1. I like the idea. But you can ruin your life without social media. I get your point though.

  11. I made my meme about scams and stuff like that. Many people get phone calls, text messages and emails saying they’ve won a free cruise, owe money, will receive money, have won something really big but they need your credit card number and security pin. THIS IS NOT REAL! However many many people fall for this. This does not show good citizenship as when you preform innapropriate actions like this you create an unsafe environment online as well as disrespecting all the people you are scamming with this. It is not a funny joke. A lot of people do actually fall for this.

  12. My meme ws a picture of Ned Stark(Sean Bean) in game of Thrones and the headings said "The North Remembers, the rude comment you posted". In Game of Thrones, there is a saying which says The north remembers. I decided to take a picture of the king of the North and relate it to how people don't easily forgot mean and rude comments online.

  14. My meme consists of the "black kids dancing" picture with the caption "WHEN YOU FRIEND'S NUDES GET LEAKED... BUT YOURS DIDN'T BECAUSE NUDES ARE BAD LOL". I just found the image hilarious and so I decided why not make a meme about making fun of your dumb friends for getting exposed and not thinking beforehand while you sit back worry free because your naked mole rat is not all over the internet.

  15. My meme is a picture of a kid looking confused at someone and it say "So you're telling me that post is gonna be there forever?". My meme is showing how people do not think before they post even when they post something inappropriate. Only after when people mention things about their post and those comments are not very nice, they then want to take it down. They then realize that post is there forever.

    1. That's very true. I always forget that our posts will be with us forever. For all we know, our kids could see them one day!
      Great blog:)

  16. my meme is about a person deciding what to post and the first person suggested about someone having a hard time, reflecting back on that video of the person getting picked on and the woman suggesting to send nudes and the reasonable one said to simply send nothing. of course, the boss didn't like it because, like all of us, where inclined to the fact that we need to post something.

  17. My meme is about the general confusion a person feels when someone they care about posts a revealing picture. Though you may have posted it because you feel you looked really good that day, but people don't realize that your employers look at them, that your friends can see them, maybe even your parents. Taking these pictures may seem fun because it may give some sort of adrenaline rush, but it could very well come back to haunt you.

  18. I decided to make a meme about posting inappropriate pictures. I chose the image of a skeleton and I wrote “My leaked nudes still haunt me to this day”. When you post something online, you need to remind yourself that that image will be with you forever. Nudes are very serious. People treat them like they’re a game when they can ruin someone's entire life in the future. As much as Digital Citizenship requires you to respect others online, make sure that you’re respecting yourself as well!

  19. For my meme, I wrote: When you realize that your post is never really deleted. I used this with the ‘conspiracy Keanu’ picture because I found that it suited what I wrote well. I chose to write this because it is very true. Everything that you do online won’t ever ‘disappear’. The information is still stored somewhere. The person in the picture has a shocked expression and I think that it fits with the situation. I know that I was shocked when I found this out.

  20. I chose to use my own picture of Saitama (from One Punch Man) with a dumbfounded expression on his face, along with the caption "When you remember people can screenshot your nudes" because of how true it is. It's astonishing how often people forget that there's nothing physically keeping anyone from screenshotting your inappropriate pictures. As for the choice of picture, it's original enough to stand out compared to everybody else's, and Saitama's popular enough to get some people smiling.

  21. For my meme, I chose the picture of Dave Chappelle and i wrote "When your mom asks you why you haven't accepted her follow request yet". I decided to make this meme because people don't seem to understand that everyone can see the pictures and the comments that you post online. From your family to future job employment people, they can always find a way to see what you post even if your account is private. I think people really need to be careful about what they post online because it will always be there and whatever they post can easily be found and can hurt them for future opportunities.

  22. for my meme i chose the picture of the extremely happy squirrel and put the caption as "my confidence level after i post a picture". i decided to do this because after you post something you usually get back lots of nice comments saying of how great you look, which can really boost your confidence and make you think higher of yourself than usual. this is not a bad thing so long as you dont think too much of yourself because at that point you become cocky.

  23. I chose the meme of "When you tell a joke to a parent and they turn it into a life lesson" because it has happened to everyone. It has happened to everyone to tell a joke that may have gone too far for their parents and then they proceed to tell you about how you should never say things like that, "thats not funny","respect woman always", etc, etc,. Life lessons are fine but it's just a joke and I am not saying that just because it is a joke it makes it ok, I am just saying that it was not intended to offend anyone.
