Although technology is a GREAT TOOL, it does have some limitations.  One limitation is that it could ALIENATE or ISOLATE an individual.

What do you think the world will look like in 100 years as technology continues to advance?

Explain.

  1. Technology is already growing at a crazy rate! However, I don’t think much is really going to change. Yes, we may have new devices that become part of our everyday life, but I don’t think that it is going to be flying cars and telegrams everywhere. I think even though we are advancing really quickly, I don’t think that we are only going to advance technologically. We also have to focus on other things like medicine.

  2. In a hundred years, the world would be even more comfortable and better than it ever was (if it even survives for that long). With the advancement of technology, people would just think what to do and it would happen. Maybe even telekinesis communication devices could take place. I mean, look at what we’ve done in 10 years of technological development. Portable phones that can take pictures and text to each other and you can even play games on them and that’s just a start. Now imagine in 100 years. Yeah, you can imagine quite a bit. Flying cars would take place as well as hover boards and maybe even teleportation devices. We would start to explore space and maybe even colonise some planets. Mars is definitely going to be first. Life would be waaaay more different as it was 100 years ago.

  3. The way I see the future of our society in 100 years technologie speaking, I see a pile of ashes of all the cities and countries the robots have destroyed. I see people fighting each other and robots for survival, a kind of terminator scenario. We have been so obsessed by technology that it is not a matter of time before our phones enslave us and destroy us. A world were only the amish are the smartest for not falling for this evil trick. May the wisest live.

  4. Technology is quite advanced already, but in 100 years I could see it taking over everyone's life. everyone would never leave their homes and androids and robots would do all the jobs that society no longer does. If this isn't what ends up happening I would imagine that the world would be taken over by Robots and other forms of artificial intelligence, that had some how taken over due to corruption and war. It would become the survival of the fittest and in my opinion would somehow result in robots exterminating all humans and other life forms.

  5. In the movie "Back to the future" the professor said that by the year 2015 we will have flying cars. Its currently 2017 and there's still no sight of any flying cars. Although we don't have flying cars technology has advanced at an substantial rate since the first cell phone. In 100 years our technology will take over our lives. We presently live in a society were everyone is on there phones all the time. In the future who knows maybe we'll have robots who'll check our emails for us. Besides all our technology advancing we'll soon all become extremely lazy. We might have everything based on technology to do our everyday tasks for us. our society wont be based on humans but will be on robots and non living beings.

    1. I can fully agree with your points, since everyone relies on their devices to do their everyday easy tasks, in the future we would let technology do our greater tasks. But are you saying that we would be extinct and technology would take over?

    2. I fully agree. Let's just hope that we all become aware of this before it's too late

  6. Technology has already progressed significantly throughout the years. Although,I think that in 100 years technology will rule the world. I think that in the future a good portion of the workforce will be ruled by robots. Robots already exist and already replace workers in some jobs. For example, there exists a robot that makes drinks as a bartender, a robot that fills and dispenses prescriptions at a pharmacy, and, a very popular one, a robot that vacuums. I also think that most, if not all of our cars today will be replaced with electric ones. Technology progressing is a good thing as well as a bad one. As it progresses we start to rely more and more on it. Which isn’t necessarily a good thing. The future is going to be interesting!

  7. The internet is one of the most attractive things in the world once you go on it for a little while it turns into hours and hours of being on the internet. If this is what technology does to us now I can only imagine what it will do to people in the future. For example there won’t even be such a thing as physical activity. I think that everyone will be gaining so much wait that they will have to make technologie that is like a virtual reality room. Where all it is is you having to run around chasing non existent people in a game, because there won’t be enough people in the real world to leave their couch. I also think that school will be done from home on computers so no one needs to get up and lastly all the weapons in the world would be computerized. Like they will have ray guns and teleporters only imaginable in games.

    2. I totally agree with you! Technology is super addictive, and if it keeps on pregressing and progressing, it will take us over.

  8. In 100 years technology is gonna blow up. Everything we have now is gonna be bigger and better. Technology that we would never think of will exist. Hovering shoes, teleportation flying cars?Transportation will be a lot quicker. Cars will be even faster. Inflation will rise and everything will be crazy in price. The world will also be a lot more dull. Technology will take over a human even more and 6 year old will now have the latest iPhone. There is also a possibility that technology will surpass the human mind and robots will be more popular. We all just have to pray that the future will be exciting and fun!

  10. In my opinion, technology will not be as advanced as we'd all assume. As I expect everyone is mentioning flying cars and that there will be crazy types of robots, but let's use the "Back in the Future movie as a reference. Marty Mcfly saw flying cars in the year 2017, however here we are, definitely without them. If this type of technology would be available though, i'd assume it would be crazy expensive, way more than we can all currently afford!

  11. In 100 years, i don’t think that we will have amazing technology, able to do things we thought were impossible, however i think that phones will advance a lot. I don’t think we should be putting a lot of effort into advancing technology, but instead to stopping global warming, lowering water pollution, and other more important things that if left undealt with, could have major effects on humans and all the other species on earth. I think that in 100 years, there will be many different technology companies appearing, all competing with each other to come up with newer, faster, and more advanced technology. I don’t think that flying cars, and evil robots will be invented.

  12. In my opinion in 100 years technology will be smarter than we have ever been and will ever be. I think that in 100 years technology would be able to upgrade and remake itself in half the time we would be able to ourselves. Technology would be so advanced that we would be its predecessor, we would be lower than it. And who knows, maybe your toaster will come to life and make you toast its bread?

  13. I think that in 100 years from now, the world will be so corrupted. Even today, dangerous and powerful technology are in the hands of madmen. Imagine what 100 years will bring. I think technology isn't being used for what it was originally invented for. Technology was supposed to help solve problems. But technology today like nukes are made for destruction and violence. I honestly believe that humans will be the cause of the end of the human race simply because we invent things that get out of control. In a 100 years, I believe that there would be a type of advanced technology that will end the world.

  14. I do believe that technology is a great tool and everyday is getting better. For example Apple announced two new iPhones recently. In 100 years technology can become so much better. But I also do believe that technology can be very detrimental to society in the way that people can become so focused on their phones or whatever device that they will not even socialize with others around.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I believe that people can be aliented online easily for sure. It's so simple to make a group chat with some friends and not include another, making them feel hurt. Apple realeased their two new phones yesterday too! I think 100 years from now, "apple" won't exist anymore. It's so weird to picture what the technical world will be like then. Obviously, apps like instagram and snapchat won't be a thing anymore. Will they even be called apps anymore?? I honestly feel like the world wont even exist anymore. I think now is the time to be alive! Social media can be bad for the society for sure. 100 years from now, I think the world will be damaged if even still intact. Everyone will have extremely poor social skills because everyone will be on their devices...

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't think a lot will change in 100 years. Everyone's talking about flying cars, but what about the rest of technology. There will be new phones that will be crazy expensive, like today. There will be new computers and new devices just like how there are new ones today. And everyone will be EVEN MORE antisocial then they already are, which is my biggest concern. Sometimes I wish i can go back in time and see what the world was like without technology of any kind, it must be incredibly beautiful and peaceful. And sometimes, I wonder if the world can ever be like that again. Hopefully, in 100 years, it will be.

  18. Technology is advancing extremely quickly. Every year we develop and discover new things that could save our planet in the future. I don't think that in 100 years there will be robots taking over our lives or that it will be the end of the world. I do think that humans will have to put a lot less effort into their lives. I think that schools will definitely be paperless, and that all car will be electric. But in order for our planet to survive and last that long, I think that we do have to solve and deal with some of our current situations that are affecting people all over the world. In the end, if technology keeps improving like it is now, I think that humans will have extremely easy lives and will that really be a good thing?

  19. Depending on how the technology evolve. If the virtual reality comes first, then, there is a possibility that everyone will simply just start going to the virtual world than the outside world and it will essentially become a dystopian world where there isn’t much people in the outside world. On the outside hand, if outside technology, or something like a zipline without ropes and other futuristic attraction that exist in the outside world, it could push people to go out and live it. In this case, it won’t be much of a dystopia. Another path that will happen is that the robots will develop their own mind and fight or rebel against the humans. Destroying each other in the process. There will be no future for use, just waist and ruins. Only a path for new species and a new world. Just like the dinosaur extinction.

  20. i think one of two things will happen. one thing that could possibly happen is our scientists discover cures and new inventions that will make this world a much a better place, by that time we will also have traveled at the speed of light and discovered new planets that we could populate and live on. and many other things that will make the world the best place it has ever been. but that is one of the things i think can happen. the other is pretty much the opposite. in this world we'll discover something that can completely too powerful which will destroy our world and there will be almost nothing left. this could happen in two ways, the other is if we use our resources irresponsibly and waste them without realizing it and then we cant do anything because there is no way to power anything which will result in loss of lots of things. so in conclusion there are two ways in my opinion the world be in 100 years. one is the best world you can imagine and the other is the opposite.

  21. I think a lot of us will be less social. With more and more social medias and forums being used people will stop asking and interacting with people face to face. I also think robots are going to take our place, I've watched many documentaries with robots doing things we can only imagine. Robots just need to be programmed to do things, were as we have to be trained. Making it much easier for companies to use. Since robots will be cheaper in the long run and they can work much faster, we won't be needed.

  22. I think in the future, not much will change in the world of technology. Since the first phone, the first computer, television, tablet, etc, things haven't changed. The goal of every company is to make the best and the greatest device that people will buy, love and brag about. Just today, Apple came out with 3 new phones that look great, but if you really look at them nothing's really changed since the last 7 iphones that they released. I think the world is just going to keep on progressing like this; every company is going tweak something they've already made and call it new. Maybe in 100 years we’ll get an actual hoverboard but nothing's really going to change in technology.

  23. Well I think that the world would be confusing in hundreds of years from now because Apple, the wonderful creators of the IPhone, are starting to create phones with glass on the back and making the phone all screen and no fingerprint. Apple was pretty good at the IPhone 6+, but now I find that their company is just going downhill. They are creating phones without headphone jacks and to me, that is beyond stupid. They've created wireless earbuds, but that's so stupid because you lose the earbuds in a matter of seconds from buying them. Then, because you lost the other (not to mention expensive) earbuds, you're going to want to buy another pair, so you spend tons more money, just to end up losing them, AGAIN.

  24. I think that in 100 years technology will be very advanced. By then I believe that in the medical perspective there will be a cure for almost every disease. This will mean everyone will live to be very old. Other than medical I think that almost everything will be extremely advanced and will resemble a show I used to watch called Futurama. I think my view of the future was heavily influenced by that show because I loved it and I watched it about twice all the way through. Like in the show I think there will be flying cars, transportation will be in tubes etc. Even these days technology is way too advanced. Apple just announced the iPhone X which will have some sort of facial thing that detects your face and enter your phone. This will be coming out mid-November, not even near 100 years.

  25. When asked about “technology”, I’ll assume you mean electronics. Technology in 100 years from now would be more efficient than anyone can imagine right now (to an extent of course, even in 100 years, we’re not time traveling). Some of the human race’s most advanced technology right now is so advanced that it can’t be shown to the public, but that doesn’t mean the ones we know of are lackluster in comparison. One of the most advanced pieces of technology I can think of is the Supercomputer. As the adjective in it’s name might give away, it’s a computer, but just way more efficient. The best one I know of is the Tianhe-2, a Chinese supercomputer with a system that operates at 33.86 petaflops (1 petaflop = 1,000,000,000,000,000 operations) per second. That’s 33,000 times faster than a Playstation 4, by comparison. I’ll assume the rest of technology will advance alongside the Supercomputer over the next 100 years, ending up otherworldly efficient.

  26. I believe that as outlet society advances, our ability to interact with other human beings will severely decrease. Everyone says that phones enable you from communicating with someone in person, but as technology advances, there won't be a need for human interaction. You'll be able to glance at your screen and know everything about everyone, not needing to actually talk to someone to learn how they've been doing. I also think that medicine will become a much more advanced science for we will develop our technology in the ways of being able to prevent most diseases, though new ones will most definitely appear in the future. I think that communication needs to remain a necessity to our civilization, even if our technology is much more advanced 100 years from now.

    ReplyDelete
  27. In my opinion, technology could be really advanced in the future. If you think about it, 100 years ago, the first world war was going on. During that time there was not much technology. About a hundred years ago, electricity in homes. Washing machines and vacuum cleaners were new to the generation and were seen as cool. Today, washing machines and vacuum cleaners are those annoying gadgets that break after around like 5-10 years. Refrigerators and air conditioning units also came out about 100 years ago. Escalators, teabags, instant coffee and disposable razor blades were also popular items that came out around 100 years ago. Our modern Band-Aids were invented about 100 years ago as well. If what we view as simple technical items like these were invented around 100 years ago, many more technical items are to come. Maybe they will be seen as cool and exciting in our eyes but in around 100 years from now, they will not be as cool and exciting to that generation.

  29. I think technology will go one of two ways. The first it will take over our lives like having robots to clean or flying cars or it will stay like now with having useful objects like washing machines or vacuum cleaners. I have a feeling it will will take over our lives and we will all have flying cars and technological homes with robot maids.
