  1. What I like about St. Tomas is the school spirit we have. Everybody dresses up for the occasion, the MC's are super passionate and everybody is really friendly. Most of the staff is very welcoming and kind. What I suggest for improvements are the locks in the girl's bathroom because almost none of them ever lock so that's one reason as to why girls go to the bathroom together. Also the fact that there's almost never any soap and if there is, it's practically empty. There's never any paper towel so we have to use the blow dryers which is gross. And the bathroom in the 180's is cold air so that doesn't help to dry our hands. Another thing that I would want to improve is the air flow in the school, especially in the 3rd floor because it's boiling up there. I know air conditioners cost a lot of money but it's for the best. Also I would change the dress code because whenever there's a dress code situation, 99% of the time, it's for a girl. Girls can't wear spaghetti straps, yet boys can have their pants sagging below their butts and their muscle tee's show half their sides, but if a girl wears spaghetti straps, she gets sent to the office. It's so unfair and ridiculous. It's almost as if the teachers want girls to wear khaki pants and wool sweaters to school. And especially in summer, we want to wear shorts and skirts and dresses and rompers, but teacher expect us to wear long pants. We should be just as equal as boys.

    2. Huh, I never realised how srict the school dress code is to girls and how unstrict they've been to guys. Thanks for bringing that up. #Freedomofclothes

    4. I totally agree! the dress code sucks.

    5. I think you should bring this to the attention of not only the teachers, but the administration. This sexist dress coding has to stop soon.

    6. You're so right! Girls are treated worse when it comes to the dress code

  2. Some of the things that St-Thomas is great as is opening up school activities during school weeks like the carnival week and pride week. The school is also mostly tolerant with what we wear. I know it might be better at other schools but trust me, it was hell in Sainte-Anne. I had to wear the same shirt and pants every day of the week. The teachers and staff are also very nice to others, exept for Mr. Alali. Now for improvements on schools, your're in for a treat. First things first, have you seen the roofs lately, it's as if someone forgot to wash it in 10 years...oh wait, that's what actually happened. The desks can use an improvement as well. They're filled with gum and/or they're to shaky for anyone to work. The boys bathrooms are way to unclean compared to the girls bathrooms. We don't even have sinks, instead we have this 1 circular sink with a foot lever which in theory sounds cool but just feels like wasting so much water. The computer rooms, the libary and the staff and teacher rooms all have air conditioning but not in the classrooms. It gets really hot during September and June. The music rooms are also waaaaaaaaay to small for the class sizes. In Sainte-Anne, our room was almost twice the size compared to the one in Mrs. Millers, and we were only less than 20 people. In mrs. Millers class, people are going shoulder to shoulder and we're so close to the person behind us we hear their instrument better than ours. Oh, I almost forgot about the lockers. Some of them are specifically located to annoy people like either in a 3 way intersection where its flooded with people or in a corner where its impossible to get in with the person next to you on both sides. They can also really use a paint on the inside. The hallways are way to cramped and there isn't enough time between each class. We used to have 7 minutes in Sainte-Anne and everyone got there on time. Btw St-Thomas is great.

  3. I think our school is amazing. No other schools have as much pride as we do. We have so many clubs, after school activities, sports teams and events that take place that there is something for everyone to get involved in. On top of that we have dances, pride week, carnival weeks, etc. All of the teachers are friendly and approachable and everything combined make St Thomas a home away from home. On the other hand I think we could all agree that some renovations in the bathrooms, new desks that don’t have gum underneath them, some air conditioning and a few touch ups in the classrooms could make St T a better place. All in all St Thomas has a lot more pros than cons and students and parents should definitely consider coming to this school.

  4. I think that our school has a lot of amazing things that other schools don’t have, but I can’t really talk because I haven’t been at another school other than St. Thomas before. But, what I know other schools don’t have is amazing sports teams like ours. Our school has some of the best high school sports teams in Montreal and Quebec, many kids that have went to our school have continued to play the sports that they started at our school. I think that our school could improve on some of the foods in the caf and add better foods (poutine) in the caf.

  5. our school is the best in the city. We have a lot of kids and a great community. We should improve the lockers. Some of them are super dirty and too small. For this open house parents are gonna love the school. They will love the passion kids have for this school. I'm gonna volunteer for this years open house. I'm helping out the parking and I think this is gonna be tons of fun. In conclusion, our school is amazing with only a minor of improvements needed. There will be a lot of kids coming to the open house and most of the kids will come to the kids for sec.1 If they come they'll make a great decision

    1. could be that the lockers are too small of that you don't know how to organize it :P. Anyways, I don't know how to either so I agree completely! We need bigger lockers!

  6. One thing I really like about our school are the carnival days and the dances. They are really fun, and well organized. I like how we have a lot of school spirit, and how we have a lot of sports and extracurricular activities to choose from also. I would change the dress code, because it is unfair, and targeted mostly at girls. I also don’t really like starting early in the morning, but I like how it means we finish early also.

  7. what I like about St Thomas is how we have so much school spirit. we also very nice students and teaching staff. I also love how we do so many extra things like; extracurricular activities and sports teams. I would like to change the girls dress code since we don't have an easy time picking cloths for school, since we have to worry about how thick the straps on our shirt is, or how long our shorts are. where as the guys don't have these problems they can mostly wear what they want. Also I think we should get bigger lockers for some parts of the school its unfair to those who got small locker. other than that I think St T is a really great school and really enjoy the school.

  9. St-Thomas is a great school, I couldn't have made a better choice of high school. The carnival day is one of the best days of the year. It was really god fun. I have not heard of another school having such a fun day in their year. The dances are also very fun and well organized. The early start can be quite annoying at times but ending at a very early time though so I find it to be very forth. It is a very laid-back school and not very strict like private schools can be.

  10. Our school is great, whether it’s for the great activities, or our amazing school spirit, but what really sets us apart from the others is our teachers! Are teachers are so welcoming to the sec 1s, and make learning something that we look forward too. Some classes, instead of calling it English, or any other class, we’ll say that we are going to Mr. Katz’ class, because we truly love the class because of our great teachers! I always find myself learning something new when I’m leaving class. What really impresses me is how most of my teachers can tolerate me. Our teacher can see the positive in us, even if you aren’t a great student, and will try their best to teach you in the way that you learn.

  11. I love our school. I love everything from the teachers to the cracking paint in the caf. What I love about our school is how prideful we are about who we are. Most people I know who go to schools like Rennie, when someone asks them which school they go to, they say"One of the schools in the West Island". But we here at St Thomas are the first to say which school we go to, not because we're bragging, but because we are proud. Whenever I get an assignment from SC, I pour my heart in soul into it because I know that if I do a good job, it will give another reason for someone to go here. Another thing that I really like about our schools is that most of our teachers really care about how we're doing. When they ask how we are, they are genuinely interested in what is happening in our lives. The last thing I want to mention is the sense of family people get from being in a class or an extracurricular. The thing I would want this school to improve on is for the students not to take what they have for granted. Here, you belong and here you can meet some amazing people. I really wish that people would stop forgetting that.

  12. There's a lot of things I love about Saint-Thomas. I honestly wouldn't want to go anywhere else. What I love most is the school spirit. It makes school so much more enjoyable. I also love the carnival! It's incredible how much effort is put into it every year. But our school has it's flaws. In a school with no AC, I find it ridiculous that girls, and girls only, have to constantly cover up themselves. At the beginning of the year, it was SO hot. It was so hot that on the second day, I missed school. If I was allowed to wear clothes that wouldn't suffocate me, I would have probably came to school. This just proves that this dress code is interfering with our education. Dress codes are also always targeting girls and is promoting rape culture. I hate dress codes and what they stand for!! They teach girls to cover up so boys wouldn't get distracted. Dress codes take away our ownership to our bodies. They are also very stereotypical! Not every girl has the same body type. What fits one girl one way, doesn't mean it would fit the same way on another girl. The dress code is very generalized and doesn't embrace all body types! Saint-Thomas should either fork up the money for AC or leave girls alone.

  14. I love St. Thomas! St. Thomas has things that interest everyone from sports teams to improve teams, student council to robotics. Our teachers are super involved and always do their best to make sure that we succeed. From sitting with us at lunch when we have questions to staying after school to make it possible for us to do extra curricular activities, our school would not be the same without them. Our school is full of pride and we show our pride through our many dances as well as our carnival weeks. We are truly a family here at St. T! We always things to improve. I think that the only thing we need to improve is our school's appearance. A little bit of paint, new tables and maybe fixing the ceiling in a couple rooms would go a long way! In all, I love our school and I could not imaging myself anywhere else!

  16. St. Thomas is a really great school. One of my favourite things about this school is all the school spirit we have. One of my favourite days of the year is carnival day. The student council works so hard on carnival day and they always do such an amazing job. I also really like that our school ends at 2:25. Most school end at around 3:30 but I like that ours end earlier. A couple things that our school could fix is that they could do a couple renovations and be less strict on dress code. Girls have to cover up completely and guys do not even have to follow any kind of dress code. Girls are not allowed to wear spaghetti straps because it is "too distracting" for guys. Even on really hot days. I think girls should be just as equal as guys.

  17. Saint Thomas is an amazing school since we have so much school spirit. With all the sport teams, and dances we have, I feel like there is always something going on. My favourite day at Saint Thomas is carnival day not only because we get to miss half a day of school but the activities are all so fun. They also have fundraisers in the middle of it and you don't feel like you are paying much for what you get. However, Saint Thomas should add air conditioning in the classrooms because it gets really hot inn the summer and us girls can't wear spaghetti straps because its too distracting to guys. But in all honesty that's completely false because all the guys that I talk to don't find it distracting. I feel like they are too hard on the girls for the dress code to the point that I'm scared to wear shorts because I don't want to get dress coded and have to wear some baggy sweatpants from the cycle office. In the summer, it can get really hot and I believe if our parents let us get out of the house how we are then it's fine.

  18. If I had to pick one thing that would make this school 100x better is if the school had air conditioning. If St Thomas had a air conditioning it would be the perfect school. It’s always so hot and smells so bad and air conditioning would fix all those problems. Another thing that would make our school better would be if they improved the dress code so people could actually wait what they want. People should be able to express themselves without having to abide by the rules of a dress code. That’s just my opinion on some of the major things that our school should change.

  19. Saint Thomas is an great place in which we learn a lot of stuff and they organize fun activities that we all like. Just like the Terry Fox run which everyone like because they got to skip a few class and had fun. Also some peoples left the school at the beginning of the event thinking that they'll get away because it was an event and probably thought no one will pass through all the trouble counting all the students again. Thought they actually did it and it made me wonder what happened to the students who actually did skip school. I think they probably got a phone calls to their parents saying that they skipped school.

  20. this is probably the thing most people said but the main thing i think st Thomas need is air conditioning. i constantly find myself being extremely hot especially in science class. i know its never going to happen but i still like to hope. another thing that really annoys me is the ripped jeans rule on the dress code. maybe a few years ago ripped jeans looked sloppy and not attractive but now when you walk into a store there are probably more ripped jeans than non ripped because they are very fashionable now. however i do think st Thomas is a great school no matter these things. we don't have a uniform, we are full of school spirit. and most of the teachers are amazing.

  21. I believe that Saint Thomas is a very good school. First of all, there’s a really awesome teacher named Mr. Allili. He is so funny and nice. He welcomes everyone with open and kind arms. Even people from other schools know him. He seriously takes care of the school. I also think this school is great because it is very fun. Everyone is so nice to eachother and I find it really easy to become friends with people. I feel it everyone at Saint Thomas is a family.

  22. I think that st. Thomas is a great school because we have so many unique qualities that other schools don’t have and don’t think are important in a high school. Like pyjama day, carnival week, going all out for terry fox day, breakfast for lunch and other things like that. We also have so many clubs and sports that interests everyone. There is always something that someone could join at st. Thomas. Weither it’s the football team or student council. And student council does an amazing job organizing the dances and other events. One thing that I really like is how in sec 5, you get to be a bouncer. I don’t know why I like that so much but I think it’s really cool to have something that is just for the grads and to have a huge group of people come together like that. There isn’t anything that I would change about st. Thomas. Maybe the dress codes but that’s a whole other story. Whenever I tell my friends or family who don’t go to st. Thomas about it, they’re always jealous and shocked of how many opportunities and events that we have. I am so very lucky to go to this amazing school and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

  23. The Student Council’s working the open house tomorrow, and while someone outside the council might find our tasks boring, I look forward to every event we hold for the school. Like many other schools, we do have our flaws when it comes to the physical state of the school,(lockers, desks) but I think we make up for it in every other aspect. The quality of the quantity of events we hold receives awesome feedback from the school every time. Combine that with the school pride we have and it becomes the school I call home.

  24. I think St. Thomas is a great school because of the environment. St. Thomas is a place where everyone can do there own thing and be apart of everything. We have so many different sports and clubs that anyone can join depending on your interests. I think one thing that St. Thomas could definitely improve on is how they spend their yearly budgets. So many things need to get fixed: the school gets too hot in summer so we need air conditioning, the doors of the bathroom stalls barley lock and there's never any soap in the dispensers, the lockers are way too small and crammed all together so its difficult for all us students to grab our books, and so many other things. A lot of stuff needs to get done but yet were painting the school and updating the library when the real problems arn't getting fixed. But other then that, i'm so happy i'm apart of St Thomas because i wouldn't want to go to any other high school other than here.

  25. St Thomas is one of the best schools, in my opinion. our staff and community here is so outgoing, way more than other schools! we have pep-rallys and so many different ways to show school spirit and pride. one of my favourite things about St Thomas is that the community of students and staff. everyone here makes it great place to be, no matter your culture, religion, and nationality! everyone here is so nice, kind and welcoming that its not even a school, it seems like a family. one thing i would change would be the fact that we aren't exactly 100 percent technology revolved. i would make sure most of the teachers use classrooms, or managebac, or even post online assignments. the internet is such a good thing and some people don't use it. we don't need to kill as many trees and save the environment. thats what i think would be best for St Thomas
